Where are the Hoosiers in the latest USA TODAY sports coaches poll?

BLOOMINGTON-The Indiana basketball team took care of business in the first week of the 2024-25 season with wins over Brown and Eastern Illinois.

The Hoosiers (2-0; 0-0 Big Ten) outscored EIU by 36 points in the second half Sunday in the Assembly Hall.

Indiana’s success helped the team move up two spots this week USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll at No. 16. The Hoosiers had the same ranking in this week’s AP poll.

The only Big Ten team ranked higher in the poll is Purdue at No. 1. The conference now has five ranked teams with Illinois at No. 20, Ohio State at No. 22 and Rutgers at No. 24.

Indiana basketball has nearly a week off before hosting South Carolina on Saturday. This is the only major team the Hoosiers face in their scheduled non-conference outside of Battle 4 Atlantis. The Gamecocks are 1-1 and lost to North Florida to open the season.
