  • Since announcing their wedding date in January, Kalina and Shane have been talking about it non-stop.

  • The couple invited more than 75 people, but when the big day arrived, only five people showed up.

  • The heartbroken bride opened up about what happened on TikTok and received thousands of supportive comments in response

A heartbroken bride and groom reevaluate their friendships after almost no one shows up to their wedding.

The bride, Kalina, took TikTok to share a devastating wedding spectacle: the doors opening to an empty room. In her caption, she explained how she’s been talking non-stop for 10 months about her masquerade ball-themed wedding. However, despite inviting more than 75 people, only five people came.

“It just makes me think, why? What have we done? Am I that bad of a person? What did my husband do to deserve all this? Why couldn’t we count enough for people to present?” » she asked in the caption.

“I still have ‘friends’ who haven’t even sent me a message to congratulate me or tell me why they didn’t come,” she continued. “It makes me really sick. Honestly, I can’t understand it yet.”

The wedding invitations required guests to arrive at 1 p.m., but at 1:15 p.m., Kalina’s mother let her know that no one had shown up yet. The bride and groom waited until 2 p.m. to enter the room, which was scheduled for 40 RSVPs, but only five people were present when they entered.

“We enter the room and there is no one… I dreamed that I would walk into a group of people cheering us on. They were booing and shouting at us in celebration,” wrote Kalina, who ended up walking in silence and empty chairs. “But all you see is a woman trying to hold back because she had NO idea how to deal with the fact that her room was almost completely empty.”

Kalina and Shane got engaged on Christmas Day 2019, just before the COVID-19 pandemic “hit the world and shut everything down.” Therefore, the wedding planning was delayed until this year. When the couple of nine years announced their wedding date in January, they couldn’t wait for the day they’d always dreamed of – but it turned into a nightmare.

“All the wasted food and drinks. All the empty tables and chairs. Every moment of my reception changed to accommodate,” Kalina continued.

But she wasn’t going to let her absent guests ruin her special day. She wrote that they still made the most of it, sharing upbeat dance videos And positive moments upon receipt.

“My little group is really all I need,” Kalina wrote in the caption of another TikTok video. “And now I really know who is there for me and who isn’t. I will be forever grateful that so many people got to see the entrance I had dreamed of for so long.”

She added of the first and only wedding dance she shared with Shane: “We told each other that we were all we needed and it was us against the world.”

Many commenters on TikTok couldn’t understand why so many people decided not to attend what they knew would be a very important day for the Oregon-based couple. Some even wondered if there was another side to the story.

Thousands of other TikTokers tried to brighten the mood, complimenting Kalina on the beauty of her wedding dress and noting that they would love to witness a wedding redone for the couple.

“NAH, DO THIS AGAIN. AFFECT US ALL,” read the first comment, which received over 16,500 likes.

Another comment – with over 15,000 likes – read: “Let’s do it again. This time invite me and all of us. We’ll come and hang out. I love you girl and congratulations!!”

A week after the wedding, Kalina shared an update in another video that she and her husband are “still a little embarrassed and still going through the stages of grief”, as well as “still dealing with anger”.

“I wouldn’t even wish this on my worst enemy,” she said.

In a job after that, Kalina confirmed that she didn’t receive much explanation from the people who didn’t show up.

“For the most part, we’ve done a lot of cutting out and re-evaluating our lives and spending a lot of time appreciating what we have,” she explained.
