Medina County officials pursue Ohio suspect Amber Alert accused of kidnapping 7-year-old

EMPIRE, Ohio (WOIO) – One Amber Alert was issued Monday afternoon for a missing 7-year-old child last seen with a man in a damaged car.

The Amber Alert was canceled at 9:15 p.m. after local authorities began pursuing the suspect.

“We had a tragic incident here tonight. We had an Amber Alert that ended a short time ago,” said Captain Eric Bors with the Medina County Sheriff’s Office. “This is an ongoing investigation, the child is doing well and will be reunited with his mother soon.”

The Medina County Ohio State Highway Patrol was pursuing the suspect at 8:45 p.m.

OSHP would not provide any additional information.

Oaklynn Alexander, 7, was missing from Empire, Ohio. She is now safe.

According to Ohio’s Amber Alert website, Oaklynn was suspected of being with 43-year-old Charles Alexander.

Oaklynn and Charles were in a gray 2018 Ford F150, but the truck was found unoccupied. They were then transferred to a U-Haul truck.

Authorities say Charles took Oaklynn after an altercation at a family member’s home at 3 p.m. He does not have custody of the 7-year-old child.

“The child is fine, thank God. And a tragedy was avoided,” said Captain Bors. “The child appeared to be physically well at that time.”
