HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A fire near Kapiolani Medical Center forced Honolulu police to close Punahou Street Monday evening.

Firefighters rushed to a building near the hospital shortly after 6 p.m.

The address matches that of the Hawaii Clinical Laboratories.

HFD says a wooden frame was smoldering in a vent, but crews were able to put it out in about an hour.

While HFD responded, HPD closed the northbound lanes of Punahou Street from Beretania Street to Bingham Street.

No injuries were reported.

An estimate of the damage and its cause are pending.
