Nashville Predators vs. Colorado Avalanche Live Score: Highlights, Stats, TV Channel

THE Nashville Predators scored a point to open their first West Coast road trip of the season.

The Predators lost to the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 in overtime Monday at Ball Arena in Denver. Samuel Girard took advantage of a Brady Skjei turnover to beat Juuse Saros on a breakaway at 2:46 of overtime.

The Predators (5-9-2) have picked up points in two straight games after a three-game skid as they try to climb out of an early-season hole.

Nashville opened the scoring 1:45 into the game with Luke Evangelista burying a rebound of a Marc Del Gaizo point shot past Alexandar Georgiev.

That lead lasted until 4:32 of the second period as a Colorado power play expired, when Devon Toews’ slap shot deflected off a Predators player and past Saros. Colorado’s top line got on the board a few minutes later with a goal from Mikko Rantanen thanks to assists from Joel Kiviranta and Nathan MacKinnon.

Nashville tied the score at 2-2 early in the third period on a dynamite pass from Roman Josi to Colton Sissons. The goal was Sissons’ second of the season.

The goaltenders dominated the rest of the period. Saros made several point-blank saves to keep the game tied throughout the third, while Georgiev made a sliding save of a Josi shot into what appeared to be an open net with less than three minutes remaining in regulation time.

Nashville’s next game is Thursday in Edmonton against the Oilers at 8 p.m. CT.

Nashville Predators vs. Colorado Avalanche: Live updates, NHL game highlights

Samuel Girard breaks away after Brady Skjei falls along the boards, and Girard finishes in first position to beat Juuse Saros. Colorado wins 3-2.

Roman Josi keeps the puck in the offensive zone, then skates to open a lane to pass to Colton Sissons in the doorway. Sissons beats Georgiev for the tying goal early in the third.

This is a quality piece from Josi.

Mikko Rantanen beats Juuse Saros to give Colorado the lead, and there were some changes coming from the front row.

Joel Kiviranta and Nathan MacKinnon get the assists. Nashville needs to step up here.

Colorado’s power play puts the pressure on, but Nashville’s penalty kill held up. But as the power play expired, Devon Toews’ shot from the point hit at least one Predators player and flew into the net past Juuse Saros.

It’s difficult to admit. There was a lot of traffic in front of Saros. The Avs started the second period well.

Nashville was buzzing in the final minutes of the first period, but couldn’t add a second goal. Still, the Predators put together a solid 20 minutes to open the game. 12-6 advantage on shots for the visitors.

Luke Evangelista’s goal is still scored unassisted, but it’s unclear why.

Marc Del Gaizo takes a penalty, then gets a shot to go on goal. Alexandar Georgiev made the save, but Luke Evangelista buried the rebound for his second goal of the season. The Preds need him to produce.

Good start to the road trip.

Lines and pairs remain from Utah’s victory, and Juuse Saros is in net from Nashville to Colorado.
