Power supply restored to 92 pc consumers: Mohan Charan Majhi

BHIBANESWAR: The state government on Saturday said power supply has been restored to over 92 per cent of consumers in the three Cyclone Dana-hit districts.

“Around 22.84 lakh consumers experienced power outage due to the storm. However, power was restored to 92 per cent of consumers in the affected districts by 7:30 pm that day,” Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said.

He said power infrastructure in Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Balasore districts was worst affected by the storm. “Principal secretary of the energy department, Hemant Sharma, was deputed at Kendrapara when the restoration work began. Although supply to around 95 per cent of consumers was restored by the evening, efforts are on to complete the rest by this evening,” he said.

Similarly, power supply has been restored to 81% of consumers in Balasore.

Work took a hit in Bhadrak due to incessant rains and waterlogging. So far, 77 restoration pieces have been completed and work is underway to complete the rest. Other teams were moved from Kendrapara to Bhadrak to expedite power supply.
