Ryan Reynolds Has a ‘Problem’ With Deadpool and Wolverine Opening – and It’s a Geek Detail You’ll Never Be able to Unsee

Ryan Reynolds cheekily pointed out the problem he has with Deadpool and Wolverine’s opening scene.

“I’ve always had a problem (with opening),” Reynolds says in the audio commentary for Deadpool and Wolverine.

The moment in question sees Deadpool toss Logan’s skeleton into the air while surrounded by TVA agents. It is not the act itself that is at issue here, but what it shows.

“Technically, Wolverine’s teeth should be made of adamantium because they are bones. But that’s not the case,” Reynolds said.

“I can’t wait for the deluge of emails and letters we’re receiving now that you’ve raised this red flag,” director Shawn Levy responded.

But even that opening gaffe — involving NSync’s “Bye Bye Bye,” an apparent mainstay of Reynolds’ “Loganpool” playlist — could be the result of overthinking.

After all, Wolverine’s skeleton is formed of adamantium, but the comics rarely – if ever – mention that Wolverine’s grinders are formed of the same distinctive and nearly indestructible metal. They are bones, but not quite the same type.

But if you focus on the teeth, you might miss a little Easter egg from Hugh Jackman, which was previously confirmed by Levy.

“Inside the skull is a little Easter egg: it’s prisoner number 24601,” Reynolds mentioned, a reference to Jackman’s Les Miserables character Valjean.

“By the way, on the roof of the palace, if you want to freeze the image,” Levy revealed.
