Search for missing man with Alzheimer’s disease near Sunrise Manor, dog team from San Diego

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A day-long search for a missing man with Alzheimer’s disease continues in the Sunrise Manor area. David Ramirez, 62, was last seen leaving his home near Desert Inn and Hollywood.

“He’s a big, friendly elder, he loves people… He’s kind,” Julieta Jimenez cried as she spoke of her missing father and the community’s search for him.

“The outpouring of support from the community and Red Rock (Search and Rescue) has been incredible,” Jimenez said.

On Wednesday morning, Ramirez was caught on doorbell video walking out of his front door and standing there for a minute before slowly walking away down the street. Two years ago, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

“It goes back and forth, it’s not something coherent… I hope it’s an episode and it comes to a moment of lucidity,” Jimenez revealed.

More than 100 volunteers: friends, family, neighbors and complete strangers search the area on foot, on dirt bikes and in cars.

“Red Rock Search and Rescue came to my house and took a sample of their scent to use with the K9s… They started searching my neighborhood… The dogs led them to the wash behind my house. .. The dogs They couldn’t continue the search because they didn’t have their boots because it was dark,” Jimenez said.

As the chances of finding him safe become more and more improbable with each passing day, his family does not sleep, does not work, just searches and refuses to give up hope.

“We are trying to stay hopeful. So I’m asking everyone to watch over him…I want him to come home,” Jimenez said.
