Kansas Football vs. Kansas State Live Score Updates: Kansas State Leads 16-14 at Halftime

MANHATTAN, Kan. — Kansas State football leads 16-14 at halftime in Saturday’s Big 12 Conference rivalry game against Kansas, in a game played in Manhattan, Kansas .

The Jayhawks led 7-0 after the first quarter, before allowing 16 unanswered points in the second quarter. This race included a safety that the No. 16 Wild Cats strength. Kansas then scored a touchdown in the second quarter to make it a one-possession game before halftime, but the Jayhawks also missed a chance to regain the lead just before halftime after an interception by quarterback Jalon Daniels.

Can Kansas upset Kansas State? Will Kansas State continue to do what it has done over the past decade and find a way to win to extend what is already a 15 game winning streak in this series rivalry? There are a lot of eyes on this game.

UPDATE: 8:42 p.m. CT: HALF TIME: Kansas State 16, Kansas 14

UPDATE: 8:16 p.m. CT: Kansas narrows deficit

With 3:29 left in the second quarter, Kansas was back within two points and trailed 16-14 after a touchdown and the ensuing extra point. Quarterback Jalon Daniels found wide receiver Luke Grimm for a 10-yard touchdown pass. The drive fell behind 3:44 and went 75 yards in six plays.

UPDATE: 8:07 p.m. CT: Kansas State extends lead

Kansas State found the end zone again, this time on a touchdown pass from quarterback Avery Johnson to tight end Garrett Oakley from two yards out. After the extra point, the Wildcats led 16-7 with 7:13 left in the second quarter. The drive fell behind 3:43 and totaled 59 yards on eight plays.

UPDATE: 8:00 p.m. CT Kansas State imposes security

Kansas put itself in terrible field position, when cornerback Jameel Croft Jr. decided to take a kickoff and went out of bounds on the 1-yard line. On the ensuing offensive possession, Kansas State forced a safety by stopping a running play in the end zone. So as the second quarter unfolded, the Wildcats led 9-7.

UPDATE: 7:50 p.m. CT: Tie with Kansas State

The score is now tied, 7-7, after a Kansas State touchdown and the ensuing extra point. The Wildcats scored with 11:09 left in the second quarter on a 24-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Avery Johnson to tight end Will Anciaux. The drive was 6:35 late and went 95 yards in 13 plays.

UPDATE: 7:27 p.m. CT: Devin Neal returns to the field for Kansas football

Although it looked like Kansas running back Devin Neal might have to leave the game due to injury, he is back. He comes back from the locker room and comes in. It’s a big deal for the Jayhawks that Neal is available.

UPDATE: 7:15 p.m. CT: Kansas football takes an early lead, but Devin Neal returns to the locker room

Kansas football struck first, with a 38-yard touchdown run from running back Sevion Morrison. After the extra point, the Jayhawks led 7-0 with 8:51 left in the first quarter. The drive went 75 yards in 11 plays and fell behind 6:09.

There is some concern, however, because during the first practice, running back Devin Neal left the game and returned to the locker room. The Jayhawks are already without one of their two main running backs. It would be a big loss if he didn’t come back.

Earlier this week, running back Daniel Hishaw Jr. was described as questionable regarding his injury status. It looks like he won’t play. It didn’t appear he participated in pregame warmups.

After missing every game since appearing against BYU in September, Kansas State tight end Brayden Loftin is in uniform. Earlier this week, it was rumored that he was expected to play – although he might be limited in terms of snaps. So far this season, he has thrown for two touchdowns.
