Liam Payne funeral: What to expect on the day – from music choices to pallbearers

Liam Payne tragically died after falling from the balcony of the CasaSur hotel in Argentina on October 16.

Traces of alcohol, cocaine and a prescription antidepressant were found in her body, according to a toxicology report, and three people are currently under investigation for her death.

Nearly four weeks passed before Payne’s father, Geoff Payne, was finally able to bring his son’s body back to the UK.

Today, the 31-year-old One Direction singer’s body lies in state at the Chapel of Rest, where his family can say their goodbyes privately. Family finalizes funeral arrangements for ‘son of Wolverhampton’.

Liam’s family, who described their feelings “heartbroken” in a press release published shortly after his death, requested confidentiality at that time.

Fans are eager to know what to expect on the day of the funeral as the date is expected to be confirmed soon. Here is a list of what can happen that day – from the music played to the pallbearers.

What to expect on the day of Liam Payne’s funeral?

On the day of Liam Payne’s funeral, family and friends will gather at St Paul’s Church in Wolverhamptonwhere the service is to take place. Built in 1835, the church has a capacity of over 300 people.

Meanwhile, fans of the singer are expected to fill the streets of Wolverhampton as the hearse passes through the city.

Who will attend Liam Payne’s funeral?

Those likely to join his parents Karen and Geoff and sisters Nicola and Ruth, as they say goodbye, will be his former bandmates, including Zayn Malik. Liam’s celebrities such as James Corden, Simon Cowell, Dermot O’Leary, Rita Ora and Nicole Scherzinger are also likely to attend.

Plus his girlfriend Kate Cassidy and his ex Cheryl Cole. It will be up to the Girls Aloud singer to decide whether her son Bear – who she shared with Liam – will attend his father’s funeral or not, as he is only seven. A difficult decision that no parent should ever have to make.

Who will carry Liam Payne’s coffin?

In 2008, at a flower party at Ruckley the Outlet, Shifnal, is Ronny Robinson with Geoff and Karen Payne, Liam and Royston Blythe.

The funeral pallbearers have not been officially named, but there is speculation that his father, Geoff, and members of One Direction could be entrusted with the honor. Once inside the church, family and friends will read poems and eulogies.

Music will accompany the arrival and departure of the casket, with selections chosen by the family. Given Liam Payne’s deep love of a wide range of genres, this decision is particularly difficult.

Although One Direction’s hits are not present, fans can expect to hear songs like Story of My Life or Night Changes.

One notable possibility is Frank Sinatra’s Fly Me to the Moon, a significant choice since Liam performed this song during his first audition for X-Factor at just 14 years old in 2008.

Once the funeral is over, Liam’s body will be transferred to the cemetery for burial. Then, family and friends will gather for the wake, a time to share stories, celebrate his life, and cherish the memories they made together.
