AOC bombarded with comments after asking her followers why they supported Trump

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., responded to dozens of responses after asking her supporters why they supported both her and President-elect Donald Trump during last week’s elections.

“I voted for Trump, but I like you and Bernie. I don’t trust establishment politicians from either party,” one of Ocasio-Cortez’s Instagram followers said Monday at New York lawmaker during a live broadcast.

The comment came in response to Ocasio-Cortez asking supporters “who supported both Trump and me” or “Trump/Democrat” to explain their decision-making.

The comments quickly poured in, with Ocasio-Cortez trying not to pass judgment while assuring her followers that she was genuinely curious about their rationale.

“I feel like you’re both outsiders compared to the rest of DC, and less established,” one comment said.

“You meant change. Trump meant change. I said it recently, Trump is more like you,” added another.

These comments also come as Trump performed much better in the Bronx and Queenswhich make up much of Ocasio-Cortez’s district, in 2024. Trump lost Queens by nearly 24 points and the Bronx by about 45 points last week, a drastic improvement from his losses of 45 and 67 points respectively in the two districts in 2024. 2020.

“I voted for Trump and you, not the Harris genocide. Democrats need Bernie.”

The result was curious for Ocasio-Cortez, who noted that many of the people who carried her to a nearly 38-point victory in the district also had to vote for the former president.

The progressive lawmaker explained that she was seeking to “understand and adapt” to reality, noting that the live session was a way to “dig into” what her supporters were feeling.

“I feel like you and Trump are both real.”

“Trump will give us money and let the men speak. You are brilliant and have incredible passion,” one follower told him.

“It’s very simple… You and Trump care about the working class,” said another.

“I feel like you and Trump are both real,” another added.

“I voted for Trump and the Democrats because he reached out to Muslims.”

“You focus on the real issues that people care about. This is similar to Trump’s populism in some ways,” one follower explained.

Another theme of the live streaming session was The Biden administration handling of the conflict in Gaza, with many of the lawmaker’s supporters saying Trump was better equipped to end the situation.

“I voted for Trump and you, not the Harris genocide. Democrats need Bernie,” one commenter said.

“I know people who did this and it was in British Columbia,” added another.

“I voted for Trump and the Democrats because he reached out to Muslims,” one comment noted.
