Free 2 Teach receives a major donation from Meta

HUNTSVILLE, AlabamaWAF) – Free 2 Teach, a Madison County nonprofit, announced a major contribution from Meta Tuesday to improve resources for teachers.

According to Free 2 Teach, Meta donated $150,000 to the organization, which will be used to equip teachers with the supplies needed to educate students in the county’s 88 public schools.

“At Meta, we understand the unique and essential role that teachers play in the lives of children in our public schools,” said Henry Thornton, Meta Regional Community Development Director. “We are proud to continue investing in the long-term vitality of public education in Madison County, home to our Huntsville data center, and to support the work of Free 2 Teach, an organization that addresses the needs practices of teachers and students and goes above and beyond to bring the broader community together and make an impact.

The donation will further support the year-round free store for teachers. The store includes classroom necessities such as paper, pencils, STEM lesson kits, art supplies, books, and classroom furniture.

“This powerful partnership between Free 2 Teach and Meta is a testament to what we can accomplish when we work together to support and equip our teachers as they make a difference for the students in our public schools,” said Huntsville Mayor, Tommy Battle.
