Fox News host’s mother doesn’t invite him to Thanksgiving dinner after Trump win

The recent presidential election will clearly continue to divide the country this holiday season.

In fact, some people are distancing themselves from family members and friends because of the way they voted, and even some media anchors are feeling the uncomfortable pain of it all.

Fox News’ Jesse Watters shared his thoughts on the presidential election’s impact on the upcoming holiday on Monday when he aired footage of liberals talking about not inviting their friends and family who voted for Donald Trump over for Thanksgiving.

Watters then revealed that his own mother does the same thing to him.

“Yes, people are taking up space in the Watters house. I’ll have you know I wasn’t invited to my mother’s house for Thanksgiving. Apparently there wasn’t enough room,” Watters said.

“She said it was a matter of timing, and then at the last second she invited me to come on Black Friday. I told him, ‘No thanks, I’ll be at Best Buy,'” he added.

In a MSNBC excerpt shown by Watters, “TheReidOut” host Joy Reid asked psychologist and expert Amanda Joy Calhoun, “What do you recommend just from a psychological standpoint by being with them?” We have the holidays coming up.

“It’s completely okay not to be with these people and tell them why. You know, to say, “I have a problem with the way you voted because it went against my livelihood and I’m not going to be with you this holiday.” I need to take some space for myself.

“Since they can’t stop us, we’re not invited to Thanksgiving,” Watters said.

It’s unclear whether Watters was simply joking with her claims about her mother, Democratic voter Anne Watters, but it appears she has a long history of denouncing her son’s pro-Trump views.

When the anchor officially took over Tucker Carlson’s 8 p.m. slot in 2023 after his firing, she called during the show and gave some advice to his son.

“Don’t fall down conspiracy holes. We don’t want to lose you and we don’t want a trial,” Anne Watters said at the time. “As per the Hippocratic Oath, do no harm. We need you to be kind and respectful.

“Look for a solution rather than fanning the flames,” she added, before mentioning former President Donald Trumpsaying: “You might encourage your friend from Bedminster to return to his previous career in television. Everyone in his audience could wear a red hat, and I’m sure the ratings would soar, although never as high, my dear, as yours, on “Jesse Watters Primetime.”
