BlueGreen Ventures, the new operator-led institutional company venture capital company co-founded by Rajeev Suri and Anup Jain, former managing partners of Orios Venture Partners, has launched its first investment vehicle with a targeted corpus of $75 million.

The fund, which also has an additional green shoe option, has a dual investment strategy.

“One of the pillars of our strategy focuses on early-stage companies, from seed stages to Series A rounds, aligned with India’s growth trajectory. We are prioritizing sectors such as climate and sustainability, fintech solutions for new India and consumer-focused B2C businesses, reflecting “Post-COVID consumer changes. Check sizes in this segment will vary between Rs 7 and 12 crore, with BlueGreen Ventures taking the lead at every turn,” Suri and Jain said in a joint statement.

The second strategy selectively targets more mature companies, typically those ready to go public in the next four to five years. In this segment, the venture capital firm plans to invest through secondary funding rounds with check sizes ranging between Rs 20 crore and Rs 30 crore.

BlueGreen says it has already received strong interest from LPs to tap into the maturity of the Indian startup ecosystem. “We are privileged to have the full support of the ecosystem as we approach our first close, which is expected to be announced soon,” said the founding partners. So far, it relies on a global network of leaders and entrepreneurs.

“Our dual strategy, focusing both on high-growth early-stage sectors and a selection of secondary investments in mature companies ready to go public in 4 to 5 years, has appealed to LPs looking for of a balanced risk-reward profile in today’s market that seeks a clear path forward. to IPRs and is disappointed with the cash returns,” Jain said.

Both Suri and Jain were partners at national venture capital firm Orios Venture Partners and had to leave the venture capital firm simultaneously launched BlueGreen Ventures.

Past investments from founders such as BatterySmart, ZupéeBeato and Ixigo. The co-founders’ other past investments include Werize, Karbon, Vedantu, Mobikwik, CarDekho, Wright Research, Bimaplan, Nxtwave and Varaha, among others.

The VC firm claims that during the last investment cycle (2018-2021), the founders’ portfolio generated an IRR of over 60% and a higher total paid-in capital value (TVPI) multiple at 5x.

Meanwhile, BlueGreen has recruited Sophie Lambin, founder and CEO of Kite Insights, a London-based climate consultancy, as a strategic advisor to refine its climate-focused initiatives.

Lambin will bring expertise in integrating sustainability into business strategies. She has previously advised global clients including HSBC, Danone and Unilever on creating climate action strategies.

“With Sophie’s extensive sustainability experience, we are able to better support businesses that drive the adoption of renewable energy, sustainable agriculture and water conservation,” Jain said, adding : “We aim to support business models that promote green infrastructure and waste recovery. enhance projects and decarbonize supply chains.
