TOKYO (Reuters) – Nvidia and SoftBank Corp, the telecommunications arm of SoftBank Group, have tested the world’s first artificial intelligence and 5G telecommunications network, the two companies announced on Wednesday.

The network can run AI and 5G workloads simultaneously, a process known as artificial intelligence radio access network (AI-RAN), the companies said.

Applications of the network include remote assistance of autonomous vehicles and robotic control.

Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang also said SoftBank was the first to receive its new Blackwell chip designs, which it is integrating into the AI ​​supercomputer it is developing to create its own generative AI model .
