LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Tonight, a dry line is positioned over the Texas/New Mexico border. It is expected to pass directly onto I-27 later this evening.

Low storm risks are worth mentioning specifically for the Childress area. If showers or thunderstorms develop, this convective coverage will be extremely limited. Large hail would be the main danger, but again, most models don’t even show a storm developing.

Eventually, a Pacific cold front will overcome this dry line and pass through our area during the early hours of Wednesday. This front will bring windy and cooler conditions to the area. On Wednesday, highs will remain in the 50s for some and near average for everyone else. A drop in temperatures of nearly 10° is expected since Tuesday afternoon a maximum of 76° was recorded.

Wednesday evening, the winds will begin to weaken. On Thursday we will begin to warm into the upper 60s and lower 70s and then continue to warm through the weekend before another front brings us rain chances and seasonal temperatures.
