Wednesday brings stronger winds for some

We are calling a FAWD on the coast on Wednesday due to a combination of strong south wind (although not really destructive) PLUS scattered thunderstorms moving towards the coast all day tomorrow. As we have seen in the past, these can contain hail or a waterspout. Just a real active day on the beaches.

We’re also going to call it a First Alert Weather MORNING in the Willamette Valley, south of Portland. The wind will be gusty, so probably some power outages SOUTH of the metro. We are not including the metro area, as we expect relatively light wind anywhere north of about a line from Newberg to Wilsonville to Molalla. Even in the valley we are likely to only see gusts of 25 to 40 mph. A wind advisory, not a high wind warning, is in effect in the valley.

It will rain this evening and frequent showers will continue tomorrow, but not enough to cause flooding. In the metro area we will have a normal, rainy, rainy and slightly windy commute tomorrow morning..

Showers continue Thursday, but ease a little Friday. In fact Friday will be more dry than wet! After a mostly dry day Saturday, another moist Pacific cold front moves inland Sunday. This should be the last organized weather system for a while as highs take over for a few days. Yes, we could indeed experience a multi-day dry spell starting next Tuesday! Temperatures will drop, especially at night, and the sun and a gusty east wind will return.
