‘The truth is’…Luis Palma speaks out on his lack of playing time at Celtic

Luis Palma’s rapid slide from Celtic’s first team has confused many fans since his arrival at the club last summer.

The Honduran winger is highly regarded in his homeland and Palma is considered one of the best exports that Honduras has produced in recent times.

Palma had some great moments in a Celtic shirt. Goals against Aberdeen and Hibs in the Scottish Premiership were also better in Palma’s two goals in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid and Feyenoord.

So there is no doubt that the 24-year-old has the talent to succeed at Celtic. Now on international duty with Honduras, Palma has spoken about his recent personal defeat and how he aims to regain his place in the Celtic team.

Celtic winger Luis Palma opens up about personal defeat

Arriving in Honduras to face Mexico, the assembled press flocked to Palma and one reporter asked the Celtic winger how he was feeling after suffering a personal loss to his family.

Palma told Deportes TVC: “The truth is that I am very hurt to lose a member of my family and the people who, from the beginning, supported me for my future.

“But I had the support of my wife, my family, and it’s a very complicated issue but I’m trying to move forward and I know she’s up there watching everything.”

67 Hail Hail extends its condolences to Palma and best wishes during this difficult time.

Luis Palma ‘strives day in and day out’ to get back into Celtic team

Palma made only one appearance in the Champions League this season and it was from the bench Celtic draw 0-0 against Atalanta.

Domestically, the Honduran made just six appearances and only started twice in victories over Dundee in Scottish Premiership and the Celtic Park League Cup win over Falkirk.

Undeterred by a difficult start to the season, Palma is determined to get back into the Celtic squad and outlined his goals at the end of the international break.

Palma continued: “I work, I strive day after day, I want to achieve the same performance that I had before at the club and coming here is a pride, I am happy to be in the national team and I wait for the things I propose to happen so that they come out all the best.

There is clearly a player in Palma and as previously mentioned, he has shown what he is capable of.

If Brendan Rodgers can work his magic on the Honduran, then maybe, just maybe, there could be a big future at Celtic Park for the former Aris man.
