Family continues to search for answers after 21-year-old’s murder two years ago

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) – A Birmingham family needs your help finding the person who shot their son and brother. Two years ago, Kendall Thornton, 21, was shot and killed while driving on Pinson Valley Parkway.

Crime Stoppers says Thornton was heading home when the driver behind him began to notice his car leaving the roadway and heading into the woods. Police found his car next to a tree and thought it was a fatal car accident until they saw his car riddled with bullets.

Whoever pulled the trigger is still there. Initially, anti-crime agencies said the reports were coming in about the case, but two years later all that stopped. Law enforcement believes other drivers must have seen something, and that’s what they want to hear about.

With $12,500 in rewards now available, Bob Copus of Crime Stoppers hopes this will inspire people to do the right thing and speak out. He says two years later, it’s something that still haunts the Thornton family, especially his mother.

“She called me and said, ‘Bob, is there any news?’ I told her: ‘Madam, you know that if that were the case, I would call you.’ So she asked if there was any way to bring the matter forward. I ask you to speak now. Let’s solve this case and give this family some relief,” Copus says.
