Northern Railway unveils advanced synchronized cylinder system for maintenance of Vande Bharat express trains – Railways News

Northern Railway on Tuesday (November 12) announced the implementation of a state-of-the-art synchronized jack system specially designed for Vande Bharat Express trains. This innovative equipment allows all eight train cars to be lifted simultaneously, facilitating efficient and uniform maintenance, repairs and inspections.

The system promises to improve safety, reduce maintenance time and improve overall performance of the Vande Bharat fleet.

How does this synchronized cylinder system work?

The synchronized cylinder system works using several cylinders positioned in a pit under the train. These jacks are centrally controlled to lift the train evenly across all cars, avoiding uneven stress and ensuring stability.

Each jack is carefully calibrated to distribute weight evenly, which is essential for high-speed trains like Vande Bharat to maintain their structural integrity during maintenance tasks.

The system offers many benefits, including performing tasks such as wheel replacement, bogie exchange, undercarriage inspection and repair of critical components such as brake systems and electrical parts. By lifting the entire train at the same time, the system minimizes downtime and speeds up the maintenance cycle, making it ideal for high-speed services.

What are the advantages of using this pit jack system?

The main benefits of the synchronized jack system include increased safety, as it mitigates the risks associated with lifting individual coaches separately, and high precision, enabling smooth and reliable lifting. Additionally, the system design reduces wear on train components and improves operational efficiency.

The implementation of this advance technology aligns with Northern Railways’ commitment to optimize the maintenance of Vande Bharat trains and improve the journey experience for passengers across the network.
