Here’s why it’s Apple’s most important update of 2024

Apple is preparing one of the most enticing iOS updates for early next month. While Bloomberg Mark Gurman first talked about iOS 18.2 With the release date being December 2, a British operator could have leaked the official launch of this next software update.

As spotted by MacRumorsthe EE carrier sent a message to its customers by telling them that the “Wi-Fi Calling” feature will be discontinued on December 9. The operator wrote:

Hi,

We wanted to inform you that starting December 9, you will no longer be able to use your EE shared number service on MacBooks and iPads.

The functionality of the watch, as well as the iCloud number sharing feature provided by Apple, will not be affected.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this update.

Since most carrier settings updates come with iOS updates, EE likely revealed the release date of iOS 18.2. While it doesn’t look like Apple is abandoning the Wi-Fi calling feature, it’s a shame that the only UK carrier will stop offering the service.

That being said, iPhone users should be excited about the confirmation of the iOS 18.2 release date. Even if iOS 18 was a major update and iOS 18.1 kicked off at the start of Apple Intelligenceit is iOS 18.2 which could appeal to most users.

As already reported by CNET, iOS 18.2 will bring some of the most anticipated featuresincluding:

  • Image Playground: Users can create fun images in seconds, choosing from Animation, Illustration or Sketch. This app is integrated directly into apps such as Messages and is also available in a dedicated app; Are you having problems with the waiting list? Check this;
  • Genmoji: Create custom emojis by combining two numbers; users can type a prompt like “monkey in the pink hat” to create a brand new emoji; here’s how to use it;
  • ChatGPT integration: When you think Apple Intelligence is not enough, you can allow ChatGPT to access writing tools and other features for better response; if you areTired of Apple Intelligence asking you to confirm every prompt, do this;
  • Brand new Mail app: Mail introduces new ways for users to manage their inbox. On-device categorization organizes and sorts incoming emails into primary for personal and urgent emails, into transactions for confirmations and receipts, into updates for news and social notifications, and into promotions for marketing emails and coupons.
