Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, the department’s appointed head, adopted the playful yet serious tone of the Shiba Inu mascot, sharing images of the dog alongside the department’s logo.

DOGE’s roots lie in the 2010 meme featuring a Shiba Inu dog, Kabosu, whose expressive face became synonymous with humorous and often absurd captions. Elon has shared memes and reposted X-rated posts from people supporting DOGE, as many people on the right side of the political spectrum believe DOGE will make government more efficient and end the waste of taxpayer dollars.

He said there would be rewards for efficient civil servants. “Incentives matter. There should be rewards for wise spending, but those who waste taxpayers’ money cannot be allowed to continue doing so without consequences,” he said in an article on X.
