RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Carson City Community Development is partnering with the Northern Nevada Development Authority and Nevada Rural Housing (NRH) to provide free training to real estate agents on NRH’s first-time homebuyer programs.

During the city’s listening sessions for the master plan update, community members expressed concerns that they, their family members, co-workers and employees could not can’t afford to buy a home in Carson City. As a result, first-time home buyers looking to purchase in Carson City are purchasing homes in neighboring communities.

Hope Sullivan, Community Development Director, said, “We have heard frustration from residents and employers regarding housing costs and the relationship between housing costs and the presence of a local workforce. This would have the added benefit of strengthening the local workforce.

NRH’s homeownership programs have helped more than 10,000 Nevada families become homeowners. The training will provide real estate agents with the details of these programs. Participating real estate agents will be featured on the NRH website as Real Estate Partners and listed on the NRH website under the agent reference for interested home buyers.

Training will take place on Wednesday, November 13 from 11:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Adams Hub, 111 W. Proctor St. Lunch will be provided. Places are limited and registration is required at https://nvrural.org/agent-workshop/
