President-elect Donald Trump is rushing to install loyalists and allies in his administration. But he’s struggling to make a decision about one of his top law enforcement jobs: attorney general, multiple sources told ABC News.

Trump interviewed several candidates for attorney general on Tuesday, but left unsatisfied, sources with knowledge of the conversations told ABC News.

Trump interviewed Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey on Monday and spoke with attorneys Jay Clayton and Bob Giuffra about the message, sources said. No final decision has been made, sources said.

Billionaire Elon Musk notably participated in interviews with potential candidates for the post of attorney general, the sources said.

In a sign of how quickly other positions are changing, Pete Hegseth — the Fox News host tapped as a candidate for defense secretary — was just called up Monday and interviewed for the job Tuesday, a source close to him said. at ABC News.

Within hours, Trump made his choice, sources add. Several Republicans on Capitol Hill and even some Trump allies said they were “caught off guard” by the selection.
