Announcement by President-elect Donald Trump Pete Hegseth, new member of his cabinet on November 12. Hegseth will oversee the U.S. armed forces as secretary of defense.

There is a lot to know about Hegseth. He is a veteran who served in Afghanistan and Iraq, author of “The War on Warriors” and co-host of “Fox & Friends Weekend” on Fox News. The 44-year-old is an active voice in conservative politics.

And, importantly to many Tennesseeans, Hegseth is a Vols fan.

On October 23, Hegseth posted about his “Rocky Top weekend” on Instagram, showing himself and his family attending a University of Tennessee football game and celebrating the Vols. electrifying victory against the Alabama Crimson Tide the previous weekend.

Photos from the match show the seven Hegseth children on the pitch at Neyland Stadium after the big win. The whole family, including Hegseth, is decked out in Tennessee orange for game day. “@vol_football is the real UT,” Hegseth wrote on Instagram.

Did Pete Hegseth graduate from the University of Tennessee?

No, Hegseth did not graduate from UT. He graduated from Princeton University in 2003 before earning a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, although, a biography on his website says he “mailed that diploma back to Harvard!”

Hegseth’s wife, Jennifer Rauchet, is also not a Rocky Top graduate.

Does Pete Hegseth live in Tennessee?

Hegseth and his family live in Middle Tennessee, according to his biography.
