The names of boys Arlo, Arthur, Elliot and Finn are also chosen less and less by new parents.

Arlo, from Disney’s 2015 film Good Dinosaur, is falling out of favor as other modern names emerge and take over. The name has seen a dramatic decline in popularity, going from the 18th most popular boy’s name in 2022 to one of the top 100 names in 2024.

Arthur, made popular by the 1963 film The Sword in the Stone, was the 6th most popular boy’s name in 2022, but is now no longer on the list. Experts say this is due to a “movement away from older historical references.”

And, despite being one of the main protagonists of Pete’s Dragon, Elliot is no longer a highly regarded name, slipping from the list to 83rd place in 2022.

Known in the recent Star Wars trilogy, the name Finn has also lost popularity. At 82nd place in 2022, the name no longer appears in the top 100 for 2024.

Experts add:

“We do not anticipate its return for 2025.”

Most Popular Disney Inspired Names

But some Disney names are gaining popularity among new parents.

Following the release of Inside Out 2 earlier this year, Riley’s name is quickly gaining popularity.

The name climbed to 38th place on the girls’ list in 2024, but is expected to advance even higher on the list in 2025.

At number one of the most popular Disney-inspired girls’ names for 2025 is Aurora, a name made popular thanks to the classic Disney film Sleeping Beauty.

The name rose from 49th place in 2022 to 12th place in 2024, and is expected to maintain this position in 2025.

Topping the list for boys is the name Christopher, which entered the top 100 baby names in 2024. This rise is expected to continue in 2025, thanks in part to Christopher Robin from Winnie the Pooh.

Other popular Disney-inspired names include Charlotte (from The Princess and the Frog), Daisy (aka Daisy Duck), Violet (inspired by a character from The Incredibles), and Hudson (from the movie Cars).
