Disney baby names at risk of extinction – including Jasmine, Arlo and Belle

Many parents have taken inspiration from baby names from their favorite Disney movies — ones that remind them of their favorite childhood characters, for example, or names that suddenly gain popularity (think Mirabel from 2021’s Encanto).

But some once-beloved names from the Disney franchise are quickly falling out of favor with parents.

Like Jasmine, Arlo and Belle.

And now experts are warning that these three names are at risk of disappearing altogether.

Tickets for attractions analyzed UK baby name data and predicted which Disney names are at risk of disappearing in 2025.

If we look at the figures from 2022 to 2024, names inspired by classic Disney films as well as more recent adaptations are less likely to be chosen by future parents for their little ones.

The Disney-inspired girl’s name most likely to disappear next year is Isabelle, or Belle. Made popular by the 1991 film Beauty and the Beast and then the 2017 live-action remake, experts warn that both names are at risk of disappearing entirely by 2025.

Isabelle came in at 43rd among the most popular girls’ names in 2022, but has not appeared in the list of the top 100 names since. It is believed that this name no longer resonates with today’s modern parents.

Meanwhile, Jasmine, from the 1992 animated film and 2019 live-action remake, has also seen a steady decline.

The name went from 94th place in 2022 to being removed from the list entirely this year. Newer, trendier names have increased in popularity, “signaling a generational shift in name preferences,” experts say.
