FanDuel Parent Flutter Stock Hits All-Time High on Strong NFL Bets

Key takeaways

  • Gambling company Flutter Entertainment reported better-than-expected revenue thanks to significant betting on NFL games.
  • The FanDuel parent said peak betting per minute for NFL games is already higher than during the last Super Bowl.
  • Flutter Entertainment shares are trading at an all-time high.

Flutter Entertainment shares (FLUTE) traded at a record high Wednesday as the parent company of sports gaming site FanDuel beat revenue estimates and upgraded its forecast as it benefited from demand for betting on National Football League games .

Flutter reported that its third-quarter revenue was up 27% year over year to $3.25 billion, ahead of the consensus estimate of $3.10 billion from analysts surveyed by Visible Alpha . Adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $0.43 is lower than expectations of $0.52. Average monthly players (AMP) increased 16% to 12.9 million, with U.S. AMP increasing 28%.

US income rises 51%

In the United States, revenue jumped 51% to $1.25 billion. The company noted that the increase in revenue and AMP was fueled by “a strong start to the NFL season, driven by new product launches and favorable sports results in the third quarter, combined with continued strength of the ‘iGaming’. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Peter Jackson noted that maximum bets per minute on NFL games were “already higher than Super Bowl LVII” last February.

Revenues in all other countries where Flutter operates have also increased.

The company raised its overall outlook for the full year, both in terms of revenue and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) by 1%, reflecting gains outside the United States. It explained that in the United States it was reducing its mid-term revenue by 1% and its adjusted EBITDA by 4% “as the positive performance in the third quarter was then more than offset by unfavorable sporting results in T4 to date.”

Shares of Flutter Entertainment recently rose more than 6% to $263.48 after hitting a record high of $266.19. They have increased by 47% since the start of the year.
