Caitlin Clark had a classy move and hilarious response after hitting a fan with a shot

Caitlin Clark had a specific – and relevant – goal for her Annika pro-am debut.

“I’m just going to try not to hit anyone outside the ropes,” the Indiana Fever goalkeeper said Wednesday.

Well, that didn’t go exactly as planned.

Early in his round, Clark overshot his tee shot to the left but the ball, fortunately, jumped over fan heads in the gallery before Clark reloaded.

At the par-3 9th, his ball landed outside the ropes again, flying left and clipping a fan. It was their lucky day, however, as Clark autographed the ball to the spectator and apologized, saying “Thanks for the good kick, whichever one I hit,” according to Golfweek.

But despite a few errant shots, world number one Nelly Korda, who played the first nine holes with Clark, was impressed with the WNBA Rookie of the Year’s match.

“It was great to see how relaxed she was,” Korda said. “Obviously with the media attention she’s received probably over the last couple of years, you can see how comfortable she is playing in front of a bigger crowd. And she really enjoyed it. You can say it.

“Like she’s definitely very talented.” She picked up the ball very cleanly. She was losing a few shots to the right, but I asked her how many times a week she played and I think with the number of obligations she has, she probably goes to the golf course once a week.

Few people can relate to Clark on the hardwood. But that’s another story about the links.
