Future Terror releases Berserk’s new Crust-Punk album “Degenerating Shithole”: Stream

Do you remember 2018? It’s okay if you don’t. It’s okay if you try to forget. But that’s when…circumstances forced a few news organizations to ask themselves whether they wanted to include the global “shithole” in their stories or just dance around it. At Stereogum, we have never had this problem. We’re happy to use the term “shithole,” even if we’re more likely to apply it to a place like Terminal 5 than to entire nations and their inhabitants. Anyway, Future Terror has a new album called Degenerative shithole.

Future Terror comes from Richmond, and they make a fast, primal, gutter-growl D-beat. Two of the band’s three members are also in Prisoner, the great Richmond metal-punk band. The prisoner’s music is hardand Future Terror is clearly the vehicle for their juiciest, most jolt-saturated impulses. A year after this “shit” situation, Future Terror releases its first album Plagueand it was great.

In retrospect, it was quite prescient to release a record called Plague in 2019. Maybe we should pay attention to the title of Future Terror’s new album Degenerative shitholeexcept that I don’t think any of us have any illusions about the imminent relevance of that term. It’s a charged, evil, nasty record. Between songs, Future Terror includes sampled commentary on the American Nazi Party’s attempts to take power in the 1930s and 1940s, as well as “the last phase of European colonization”, identified as “Christian Zionism”. Flow Degenerative shithole below.
