Lagos Government Bans Contractor From Carrying Out Construction Activities In Lagos For Violation Of Construction Plan

The Lagos State Government has barred AEOS Engineering Services, the contractor of a 10-storey building located in Block A, Plots 5 to 10, Obanikoro, Oke-Ira Scheme, Somolu LGA, owned by Chief Ebere Nwosu, of all construction activities in the state. due to violations of the approved construction plan.

The approved plan only allowed six stories, including a basement, ground floor and three additional stories, but the developer illegally added three additional stories.

This was disclosed in a statement by Adu Ademuyiwa, Director of Public Affairs, Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA).

The announcement was made by Dr. Olajide Babatunde, Special Adviser to the Governor on e-GIS and Urban Development, during a site inspection with LASBCA Managing Director, Arc. Gbolahan Oki and other officials.

The site had already been sealed by LASBCA after the developer added three unauthorized floors. After a three-week ultimatum to remedy the violations, the developer failed to comply, leading to stricter government sanctions.

“The Special Adviser pointed out that a six-storey structure comprising a basement, ground floor and three additional floors had been granted, the owner/developer illegally added three additional floors, highlighting an act which totally violated state building codes and regulations.

“Olajide further stated that operators of AEOS Engineering Services will not be allowed to operate or manage any site in the state until a counter instruction is given because business is no longer conducted as usual. usually,” the statement read in part.

The press release emphasizes that the agency will not reopen the site and that the three unauthorized floors will be demolished.

Furthermore, the Lagos State Government intends to prosecute the owner and developer for violation of the state building codes and regulations, thereby ensuring their compliance and eradicating illegal practices in the environment built.
