SCOTT COUNTY, Ind. (WAVE) – The Scott County Sheriff’s Office announced on Facebook Wednesday that skeletal remains were found in a wooded area where a missing woman was last seen in September 2024.

The remains were found Nov. 12 on a wooded property near where Amanda Martin was last seen. A forensic examination has been scheduled to obtain a positive identification of the remains and determine a possible cause of death. It will take between six and eight weeks before the results of this examination are known.

“We are saddened by the discovery of the remains discovered yesterday, but we also realize that a family can now begin to heal,” said Scott County Sheriff Jerry Goodin. “This is an active investigation and I personally appreciate the assistance of our law enforcement partners. Together we continue to seek a factual conclusion about what happened here.
