Two Port Gibson men were arrested Saturday by the Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) and each was charged with possession of an illegal weapon.

VPD officials said a call reporting suspicious activity led to a traffic stop of a vehicle on Bayou Boulevard. A subsequent search of the vehicle, officials said, led to the discovery of a Glock 9mm handgun with an illegal “switch” attached. VPD said the purpose of the “switch” accessory is to convert a firearm into a fully automatic weapon.

Jeremiah Timmons, 18, and Maurtrell Jackson, 21, were arrested at the scene. Both men made their initial appearances Tuesday in Vicksburg Municipal Court before Judge Angela Carpenter.

Both men were bound over to the Warren County grand jury, each on $50,000 bail.
