GPs on the island earn a much higher minimum wage than their English counterparts, but have a slightly lower maximum.

Rushen MHK Juan Watterson asked Health Minister Alf Cannan for comparative figures in a question for written response.

Mr Cannan said UK GPs earn a minimum of £73,114 – on the island the figure is 22 per cent higher, at £91,914.

However, they earn a maximum of £107,200 here, over £3,000 less than in England.
