Jeevan Praman Patra: Are EPS pensioners also required to submit digital life certificate before November 30? – Money News

All pensioners, including family pensioners, are required to submit their Digital Life Certificate (DLC) in order for pension payments to be credited to their account on a monthly basis. The life certificate is commonly known as Jeevan Praman Patra.

Like central and state government pensioners, retired employees of private sector organizations, who withdraw their pension under EPS, are also required to submit the Jeevan Praman Patra.

What is Jeevan Praman Patra?

Jeevan Praman is a biometric digital service for retirees from central government services, state governments as well as the private sector.

Retirees must provide their life certificate to authorized pension disbursing organizations such as banks and post offices in the modes available for submission of the document. This certificate is necessary for their pension to be credited to their account. Retirees must either appear in person at the paying agency, or obtain the life certificate from their previous authority and have it submitted to the paying agency.

Super senior retirees, aged over 80, can do so from their home and benefit from home services.

All pension paying banks including the State Bank of IndiaPunjab National Bank, CGDA, IPPB and UIDAI will come together to implement the DLC campaign nationwide.

What happens if you don’t submit your annual life certificate on time?

If you do not submit your annual life certificate on time, your pension may cease.

The DLC 3.0 campaign aims to provide retirees with a simple, transparent and inclusive way to prove their living status, ensuring that no retiree is left behind, the Center said recently. The digital approach of the campaign will allow pensioners to submit their life certificates either online, through pension paying banks, or through IPPB centers, he adds.
