LIV Golf has revealed its 2025 calendar, which includes a controversial snub that will frustrate escaped stars.

Jon Rahm and Cam Smith – two of the biggest names in the Rebel league – strongly pushed for the inclusion of a links course.

LIV stars struggled to The open championship last year, five of 16 players – including Smith – missed the cut.

Bosses have been urged to stage a links event as part of the build-up to next year’s edition of golf’s oldest major tournament.

But the calls fell on deaf ears with a return to Valderrama, Spain, on July 11 – the week before the Open.

“It was really two polar opposites of golf,” Smith told news.com.au last month.

“It was very hot (at Valderrama), and the ball was going up very far in altitude and then heading to links (at Royal Troon), where it’s quite cold and windy, probably not the best preparation.”

THE PGA Tour hosts the Genesis Scottish Open before the championship to allow its golfers to adapt to a different style of golf.

Although the final schedule for the LIV has not yet been fully confirmed, Rahm wanted the Saudi tour chiefs to follow suit.

“I’m pushing for this,” he said Golf summary in July.

“There’s so much to do to adapt to links golf, getting used to the greens and how the ball feels on the ground.

“I didn’t think about it until after (Royal Troon), but there’s no denying how much it helps to play on a Links golf course the week before the Open.”

Rahm finished seventh at Portrush, eight shots behind the champion Xander Schauffele.

Smith shot a nine over 80 to open his tournament and Bryson DeChambeau also didn’t make it through the weekend.

Talks are currently underway to try to heal the wounds opened by LIVGolfIt’s an escape.

The PGA Tour is reportedly close to reaching an agreement with Saudi Arabiaof the Public Investment Fund to end the civil war.

According to The Sunthe Saudis are set to invest $1.3 billion in PGA Tour Enterprises, a new for-profit organization created last year.

Rory McIlroy And Tiger wood were part of a subcommittee responsible for discussions with the PIF.

It’s unclear how the timelines would merge if a deal is reached.

But McIlroy hopes players can compete on both tours, solving the ties problem for Rahm and Smith.
