There’s a good chance Kansas State will win the Big 12 title game and the College Football Playoff

The Kansas State football team knows what needs to happen to make the Big 12 title game and the College Football Playoff.

It becomes even more difficult when it comes to breaking down the details. According to CFBSelect.com, the Wildcats would be in trouble if all the favored teams win the rest of the season.

This mainly concerns Colorado, as that’s the team the Wildcats are chasing. It is impossible for them to catch BYU in the standings. First, the Wildcats need to win their remaining three games before looking for help.

“It’s mid-November,” K-State coach Chris Klieman said. “Sometimes we forget that we are a 7-2 football team that has a lot of things ahead of us to play for. We don’t know and can’t control what other teams are going to do. I think everyone knows that a lot of things can still happen.”

The Buffaloes are favored in every game until the end. They end with Utah, Kansas and Oklahoma State, all of which are unranked. The Utes were the conference’s No. 1 preseason pick while the Cowboys also had high aspirations. These teams are talented, so anything is possible.

But the Wildcats have only themselves to blame for their current situation.

“I mean, it’s obviously not the best place to be, because early this week in Houston, we ran the tables,” K-State quarterback Avery Johnson said. “And ultimately, if we manage our affairs, then, uh, we can shorten our destiny from this point on. Now we just need a little help.”
