Time is running out for those who are eligible to apply for a portion of $15 million. Cash app regulation.

Bloc Inc.., owner of Cash App, recently agreed to pay a multi-million settlement over user data breaches.

The deadline to submit a claim is November 18.

In 2022, approximately 8.2 million Cash App users were notified of a data breach.

The incident involved a former employee who uploaded user information containing full names, brokerage account numbers, portfolio values, and holding information for a day’s trading of stocks.

About a year later, an “unauthorized user” gained access to Cash App information using phone numbers linked to those accounts.

The charges against Block Inc. were “negligent and in breach of other duties”, failing to “implement appropriate controls to prevent unauthorized access” to user accounts, according to the settlement website.

Although the company denied liability, it agreed to pay $15 million as a result.

Are you eligible?

Cash app and Investment in Cash Apps Users are entitled to compensation if their information was accessed without authorization or unauthorized or fraudulent withdrawals or transfers from their account between August 2018 and August 2024.

Customers who can bear losses, such as credit monitoring, identity theft insurance or costs associated with freezing their financial accounts, are entitled to up to $2,500 with “third-party documents” proving the losses.

Customers can also submit a request for reimbursement for up to three hours of lost work at $25 per hour.
