Trump announces JPMorgan’s Jamie Dimon will not be part of his administration

President-elect Trump announced Thursday that JPMorgan Chase Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon will not be part of his next administration, ending speculation that Dimon could potentially be chosen to serve as Treasury secretary.

“I respect Jamie Dimonof JPMorgan Chase, but he will not be invited to serve in the Trump administration,” Trump wrote in a message on his Truth Social platform. “I thank Jamie for his exceptional service to our country!”

FOX Business has contacted JPMorgan Chase for comment.

Trump has criticized Dimon in the past, most recently last year when he called the JPMorgan boss a “highly overrated globalist” on his Truth Social platform.

WHO COULD TRUMP PICK TO SERVE AS TREASURY SECRETARY?

Over the summer, the former president told Bloomberg that he would consider Dimon becoming Treasury secretary if he won a second term in the White House, before walking back those comments a week later.

Dimon condemned the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol by Trump supporters, but he has also recently praised some of Trump’s positions and policies.

“Take a step back, be honest. He was mostly right on NATO, mostly right on immigration. He grew up the economy pretty good. The commercial tax reform worked. He was right on some of China,” Dimon told CNBC earlier this year. “He was not wrong on some of these critical issues.”

Dimon has refused to support any candidate in this year’s presidential election.

Although Trump previously denied that he would consider the JPMorgan boss for Treasury secretary, Dimon’s name has been circulating since the election as a potential candidate.

Trump’s statement Thursday narrows the list further, after billionaire Trump supporter John Paulson has retired consideration for the position earlier this week.
