Martha Stewart says her memoir will be ‘more revealing’ than her document

Martha StewartThe recent Netflix documentary made headlines for its explosive revelations — and there’s much more where that came from, she said.

When Stewart, 83, visited Tonight’s show on Wednesday, November 13, she declared Jimmy Fallon that she is working on an autobiography. “It’ll be even more revealing,” she said, warning Fallon: “Be careful. You don’t know what I’ll say about you.”

Details of his new book have not yet been officially announced, but Stewart recently said Today that “Random House is publishing it in two years.”

“I call it an autobiography. It’s not exactly a memoir. It’s a fun book and all the wonderful, wonderful things I’ve done in my life and all the stories,” she said in October.

During Tonight’s show segment, Fallon asked Stewart if she was happy with the way RJ Cutler Martha the movie turned out. (Stewart previously shared a brutal criticism in the New York Times.)

“The documentary is good,” she replied. “That left a lot of things out, so I’m going to talk to them about maybe doing version two.”

“There’s so much more to my life,” Stewart continued. “I mean, you know, I’ve lived a long time and I just thought, you know, maybe we’ve forgotten some things.”

“Good thing,” she clarified.

Fallon pointed out that there was some “juicy stuff” in the documentary, to which Stewart responded, “Oh, I know, but don’t say it now.” »

Stewart revealed that she didn’t really like being interviewed for the film.

“I don’t like going to psychiatrists and talking about your feelings and all that,” she said. “And the director was so intense in his research.”

However, she acknowledged that Cutler’s technique sparked “good things”, adding: “He got some juice.” »

The eye-opening documentary includes revelations about infidelity in Stewart’s long-term marriage to her ex-husband Andy and intimate details on the couple’s first relationships. It also covers his time in federal prison after being guilty for charges of conspiracy and obstruction of justice related to the stock sale.

In an interview with the New York Times published on October 30, Stewart criticized various aspects of the film, which was published the same day.

She said Cutler “made very little use” of the material in his archive despite having “full access”.

She also took issue with footage Cutler used of her at his Bedford, New York estate near the end of the film.

“Those last scenes where I look like a lonely old lady walking hunched in the garden? Boy, I told him to get rid of it,” she said. “And he refused. I hate these last scenes.

Her other complaints included the film’s “lousy” classical music (she said she requested rap music) and the camera angles.

“He had three cameras on me,” Stewart said. “And he chooses to use the ugliest angle. And I told him, “Don’t use that angle!” Not the best angle. You had three cameras. Use the other angle. He wouldn’t change that.
