Hub City entrepreneurs prepare for Small Business Saturday

JACKSON, Tenn. — More than 30 vendors will be at a local event guaranteed to bring you great deals and community spirit.

Small Business Saturday is a nationally recognized event used to celebrate local entrepreneurs and remind community residents to shop local. The director of Downtown Jackson Development Corporation said to expect some things like pop-up vendors and food. She also told us that most people have taken to online shopping lately, but online shopping is hurting the growth of local businesses.

“It’s so important to support our small businesses. They are the ones who support our local economy. If you are shopping, I encourage you to think about the purchases you make, I hope you choose to shop locally and shop small,” said Beth Ann Simpson, Downtown Jackson Development Director.

The event will take place on November 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Simpson said the center of the event will be at THE LOCAL located at 202 W Lafayette Street.

“Companies will offer different offers and promotions and we will talk about them. Then downtown Jackson will be LOCAL,” Simpson said.

You can also stop by the JDDC table to pick up your products downtown and receive small in-store stickers for purchases made LOCAL.

“You will receive an additional stamp on your passport which counts as a duplicate. So there will be additional incentives that day to encourage people to shop on Saturday, November 30 for our small business,” Simpson said.

Simpson also said local businesses help create the fun and exciting entertainment we bring to downtown and Jackson.
