What is this colorful building on Waterloo Road in Cleveland?

CLEVELAND — In the heart of Waterloo’s arts district sits a pretty eye-catching building. You really can’t miss it on Waterloo Road.

“There was this woman who came in. She thought it was a club,” said Biz Rogers, owner of Pop Life.

Rogers continued: “People think it’s all kinds of different things; we’ve had a whole range of interesting things that people think.”

Rogers said many people who stumble into her wellness center came in because they were curious about what was inside such a colorful space.

“The principle is holistic, hassle-free,” Rogers said.

The company is designed to be a one-stop shop for personal wellness. Behind the doors is a completely vegan cafe called “Nourish”. It serves bowls, salads, smoothies and even prepared meals and snacks to go.

“It’s rare to have a place with so many options for plant-based eaters,” said Megan Denman of Lakewood.

Denman and his friend Victoria chose this colorful place to meet for lunch.

“I’m coming yeah, this beautiful Pop Life and this beautiful cafe and it’s very vibrant with all the colors here and cozy,” Denman said.

“It makes me happy,” said Victoria Hamm of Mentor. “The outside is cool. I’ve walked past it before, but I didn’t know what it was; I thought maybe it was an art gallery or something.”

There’s a boutique filled with items from local artists and designers and a safe from when the building was a bank. Now the vaults store the dreams and ideas of people who pass by.

Upstairs there is a full-fledged fitness room.

“Typically right now we’re doing a lot of yoga, we’re doing a lot of gentle yoga, and things like that, so we’re really starting to get into high-intensity interval training, bootcamps, things like that,” Rogers said.

Rogers continued, “The first class is free for everyone. Everyone can try whatever they want. We offer class passes, walk-in deals, and student rates.”

The studio also offers meditation, color immersion therapy and a healing space with a personal sauna.

Pop Life is always looking for new instructors to lead classes in their spaces.

Rogers is passionate about making these services and activities accessible in Collinwood.

“We grew up in this area and it’s very important for us to really provide space and provision, especially for young children growing up.”

Pop Life will soon launch donation-only Friday classes for the children’s movement.

In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, a stop inside might encourage you to slow down and take note of all the dynamism that life has to offer, “hoping to have those spaces, those places, those activities, those things that will designing and enabling people’s brains to buzz, to do what sets their souls on fire,” Rogers said.

On Saturday, November 16, the Waterloo Vegan Market will host its boutique within Pop Life from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
