Center takes steps to ban fake bombers from flying: Aviation minister

Union Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu on Sunday said the Center was mulling measures to ban those making fake bomb threats from flying.

Speaking to the media after officially inaugurating two flights between Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada, the minister also said that apart from having the support of international agencies, law enforcement agencies and the Intelligence Bureau to prevent these fake threats, the union government was also considering amending two civil aviation laws.

“We also have the support of international agencies, law enforcement and the Intelligence Bureau to prevent this. We plan to make changes to two civil aviation laws. Those who resort to this type of activity will be severely punished and sanctioned. We are also taking steps to prohibit these people from flying. We will announce them in the coming days,” he said.

Naidu further said that an investigation into these fake threats was underway and cooperation from social media platform ‘X’ was also sought.
