Matvei Michkov scores overtime winner to propel Philadelphia Flyers past Ottawa Senators

OTTAWA — Matvei Michkov scored 4:05 into overtime to help the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Ottawa Senators 5-4 on Thursday night.

Philadelphia’s Travis Sanheim opened the scoring first with his fourth goal of the season, but Senators captain Brady Tkachuk quickly tied it up with his team-high ninth goal of the season.

Ottawa dominated Philadelphia for most of the match and won the contest on shots 28-7 in forty minutes. Despite heavy offensive pressure from the Senators, Philadelphia kept the game within reach and the teams were tied 2-2 after two periods.

The Senators appeared to gain the advantage, taking a 4-2 lead midway through the third thanks to two goals from Josh Norris and Adam Gaudette.

However, Anthony Richard and Bobby Brink scored at 10:42 and 12:45 of the period, to send the game into overtime for the Flyers.
