MILWAUKEE – Two women wrote to Contact 6 after losing thousands of dollars. One of them was targeted by fraudsters. The other had major buyer’s remorse.

Contact 6 helped both women get their money back.

When Contact 6 visited Trisha Vukodinovich at Oconomowocshe was planting tulip bulbs to add color to her spring garden. Contact 6 wanted to talk about a recent dispute with his bank, which Vukodinovich said should have been in black and white.

Over the summer, Vukodinovich claims two fraudulent checks cleared his bank account. One check withdrew $2,500. The other check withdrew $20,000.

Vukodinovich says she doesn’t know the recipients listed on the checks and the personal information doesn’t belong to her.

“The only thing that was in there was my bank account and my routing number,” Vukodinovich said. “I said, ‘These are blatant fakes.’ It’s very obvious.”

Vukodinovich says that after waiting months for his bank to investigate, it rejected his fraud claim. It said she had missed the deadline to file it. Her husband recommended she try Contact 6.

“And I said, ‘You know? That’s a good idea.’ And then I emailed you and got an immediate response,” Vukodinovich said.

Vukodinovich says that in two weeks, $22,500 was returned to his account.

Her resolution is part of the $73,691.25 consumers say Contact 6 helped them save in October 2024. Working behind the scenes, Contact 6 Associate Producer Annette has helped people get refunds from retailers, health insurance companies, a car dealership and more.

Perla Santiago in Milwaukee wrote to Contact 6 hoping to return some shoe insoles she had purchased for her plantar fasciitis.

“It was a really bad pain in my heel,” Santiago said.

Santiago admits she was in a hurry while shopping in the store. She thought the inserts cost around $150, but that was actually just her first payment. When she looked at her bill later, she found that she had actually agreed to pay about $2,300.

“I’m like OMG,” Santiago said. “I’m so embarrassed. I wonder how I got into this?”

Perla says the inserts didn’t work, but her physical therapist’s exercises did. Her physical therapist recommended she stop wearing the inserts.

Nine months after Santiago purchased the inserts, Contact 6 wrote to the company and they received a full refund.

“You were so wonderful,” Santiago said. “I don’t know what you did behind the scenes but it worked.”
