The events of The Penguin has shaken Gotham (literally), with Oz Cobb ruling the city as the new kingpin in the wake of all sorts of chaos – and it will have a big impact on The Batman 2.

However, the Riddler’s attacks left Gotham in tatters and set the stage for a violent power struggle, with the two largest crime families wiped out, a massive explosion leaving a crater in its poorest area, and Oz taking control. of The Penguin finale as the city’s most ruthless gangster yet.

Who knows what the caped crusader has been up to in the meantime, but when he returns in The Batman 2, he’ll have a “very hard time” being the hero the city needs.

“It was a time of great turmoil in the city, it was literally the week after what happened,” Matt Reeves told digital spy.

“A lot of the city is desperate, so the police can’t respond everywhere, there’s crime everywhere, it’s a very, very dangerous time.

“(Batman) is trying to deal with the consequences of everything that happened, which he blames himself for to some extent.”

In another interview with The Hollywood ReporterReeves emphasized that while Oz would return in the sequel, it is “really a Batman movie, so it focuses on Batman and Bruce.” This goes a long way to explaining to Robert Pattinson what’s next and how the Rogues Gallery fits into it.

“There are absolutely certain ways in which (The Penguin) affected him…. we’re still talking about the big picture, the future, and what a second season of The Penguin could look like.

“You go through a process where you do something and have feelings about it, and then you see it come into the world and it’s not your baby anymore. It belongs to the public… we don’t know yet. We are just beginning to understand this.
