For what? Because it’s the first time this season Marquette steps up the competition and takes on another power conference team.

Friday night game at Maryland is the first of two straight games against Big Ten Conference foes. The No. 15 Golden Eagles (3-0) return to Fiserv Forum on Tuesday to host No. 18 Purdue.

Although Maryland (3-0) is part of the revamped 18-team Big Ten, the non-conference competition will have a Big East feel. Terrapins coach Kevin Willard was at Seton Hall before heading to Maryland and legendary television analyst Bill Raftery will be on the call for FS1.
