InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reef Resort Review.

A two and a half hour flight from Sydney or an hour and 45 minutes from Brisbane, the vacation begins as soon as you step out of the airport.

Hamilton Island Airport is so small that it only took a few minutes for our bag to arrive and we were greeted by the lovely Hayman team, who accompanied us to the luxury yacht for our airport transfer. ‘an hour to the island.

Once on board we were treated to free champagne, juice and delicious snacks including little chicken sandwiches and grape skewers which I scoffed at before my husband could even get his hands on them.

As we moved through the calm, turquoise water, we were reminded a lot White Lotus the first season in Hawaii (without the ominous foreboding) as we chatted with other guests and happily received champagne refills from the helpful team.

In a genius move, check-in was done on board the boat, so the minute we arrived at the beautiful resort we were able to be taken by golf cart and taken to our room.

Housing.

We were lucky enough to be upgraded to one of the resort’s eight adults-only beachfront pool villas and I let out a literal scream when we walked through the door.

Situated directly on Hayman’s iconic curved waterfront (as the name suggests), there was a stunning outdoor plunge pool (as the name also suggests) with a separate super king-size bedroom, walk-in closet open plan with a large bathtub, outdoor shower and private deck where you can stroll in the sand or watch the world go by.
