Lubbock woman arrested for setting fire to bar

A Lubbock woman was arrested Friday, November 8, and was charged with arson and criminal mischief. She was able to post bond the following Monday.

Sarah Saenz, 28, was accused of starting a fire at a local bar. According to KAMCthe video shows Saenz entering the bathroom then reappearing in the hallway while an orange “flash” was seen in the bathroom hallway. She was filmed quickly walking away and then sitting alone at a table before leaving.

KAMC reported that Saenz was previously banned from the bar after showing up intoxicated and then being “verbally abusive” after being refused service. She allegedly went back a second time and insulted the staff for being banned from the bar.

According to the report, toilet paper was used to start the bar fire.

Court records said the toilet paper dispenser in the bathroom “exhibited a massive loss.” It appears toilet paper was used to start the fire, according to court documents. The bathroom sink drain was filled with paper and “filled with water”.

It’s unclear how much damage, if any, was caused to the bar.
