Father flies to Los Angeles in search of missing daughter who fled Maui and disappeared

KAHULUI (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Los Angeles Police Department confirms it is investigating a Woman missing in Maui.

A newly obtained security camera photo is the latest piece of evidence in the search for missing Los Angeles Hannah Kobayashi. The photo shows the 30-year-old Haiku at LAX last Friday where she missed a connecting flight to New York.

Her father is now in Los Angeles looking for her.

The family also filed a report with the FBI.

“We’re just trying to get as much information as possible,” said Ryan Kobayashi, Hannah’s father. “You want to spread the word…has anyone seen my daughter?”

Hannah’s family says her ex-boyfriend was also on that flight from Maui to LAX because they booked it before their breakup.

But they said he told them they did not sit together and had no contact during the flight.

His family said he took the connecting flight to New York and said he was extremely responsive and cooperative in the investigation.

“A lot of worry, a lot of confusion. It’s all a blur, it seems, because I haven’t slept well since I heard the news, and I really don’t know… it’s really, really concerning,” Ryan said.

Another piece of evidence is a short YouTube video that shows Hannah outside an event in Los Angeles on Saturday.

The last pinned location the family has on their phone shows them returning to LAX on Monday.

Hannah also sent a text message to a friend saying, “I got a big deal out of giving all my funds to someone I thought I loved.”

Another text said she was scared.

“There are a lot of people looking for you Hannah. So if you get this, if you see something, go to the police, go to anyone. There are many people who care about you and love you, Hannah. If you can just get a hold of somebody, whatever you can do… just let us know you’re OK,” Ryan said.
