Our Favorite Subway Sandwich Will Make You Forget BMT

We’ll be the first to admit that eating sandwiches can be as utilitarian as it is experiential. Any foodie would probably admit that biting into a cold bologna sandwich on Wonder Bread is a very different affair from eating a steaming, saucy meatball sub. What we mean is, if you’re stopping by your local Subway for its unconventional, edgy sandwiches and creations you won’t find anywhere else, then deals like the All-Pro Sweet Onion Teriyaki or the ‘Elite Chicken Bacon Ranch might be a better order for you. But when you’re craving the classic Platonic ideal of a meat sandwich, nothing beats the All-American Club.

In the tasting tables ranking of the best sandwiches from Subway’s iconic workthe All-American Club took first place. Choosing the best deal from this beloved sandwich giant wasn’t an easy task, but we’re here to tell you our decision — and, if you haven’t already tried the All-American Club for yourself , we are also here to help guide your next order.

The Subway website describes this packed club as “The American Classic.” Oven roasted turkey, Black Forest ham, crispy bacon and 2 American cheeses with lettuce, tomatoes, red onions and mayonnaise. Served toasted on artisanal Italian bread. » Like the All-American Club, Subway’s Italian BMT also contains triple meat, but it ultimately came in second place in our rankings – which hurt us, but it was an honest decision. The All-American Club knocks it out of the park in both palate and balance.

It’s all about substance, balance and nostalgia with the All-American Club

You could say that comparing these two sandwiches is like comparing apples and oranges. After all, the BMT falls under the Italiano category of the menu, while the All-American Club (of course) falls under the Clubs category. Yet, as we mentioned in our review, the All-American Club’s interplay between “the tender fat of the bacon and the consistency of the bountiful slices of ham and turkey” makes it an elevated version of the simple and reliable club sando , and all the classic charcuterie nostalgia that comes with it.

The All-American Club debuted as part of the program Eat fresh Refresh campaign in 2021 and has become an integral part of the Subway Series Menu Redesign in 2022. After just a few bites, it’s immediately clear why this sando stuck around. The meat trios complement each other and the bright side of the red onion prevents it from weighing too much. Plus, with thick mayonnaise as the hydrating element instead of one of the chain’s bolder hydrating elements (like the MVP Parmesan Dressing in BMT), the All-American Club lets the naturally harmonious flavor of the ingredients stand out. the inside speaks for itself. On a New York subway, the All-American Club costs $8.49 for a six-inch and $12.99 for a foot long. This sandwich would also be great on cheesy herb Italian bread, or with honey mustard instead of (or in addition to) mayonnaise.
